Wendover is getting one more improvement, more electric charging stations (4) at a very convenient place, the local Smith’s market. The company building it, Electrify America, is also the one who will operate it. They are paying for it, and Kroeger, who own West Wendover Smith’s Market, doesn’t lease or charge anything to that company. But Kroeger/Smith is adding a great service to his customers, locals and passing through. The advantage is evident, locals are used to shop at Smith and they will continue no matter what. But people in the market for an electric car had second thoughts before that, being far from everything, about 120 miles to Salt Lake City Utah and 109 miles to Elko Nevada. So I-80 travelers need to know they can recharge half way from Salt Lake to Elko. But Wendover has already a Tesla charging station in town and an other station(not Tesla)with 2 outlets at the Wendover Welcome Center right in the middle of town (two little towns of West Wendover and Wendover Ut). There people coming from the highways (I-80 and Alt. 93) could rest, and enjoy the local park. Now they also will be able to go shopping while their car recharge. The Smith location, with 2 ‘up to 150 kilowatts, and two ‘up to 350 kilowatts for a total of 4 is projected to open in the summer of 2021, says Emily at the communication department.

The customers will be able to pay at the station using a credit or debit card, or via the Electrify America mobile app

Charging Agreements with Automakers while any compatible electric vehicle can charge using the Electrify America network, we also work with many different automakers to offer charging agreements that provide owners of select models with deals on charging. This type of collaboration helps incentivize adoption of new EVs coming onto market and educate drivers on public fast charging. Previously announced deals include Audi e-tron (9/17/18 release), Ford Mustang Mach-E (6/15/20 release), Harley-Davidson LiveWire (7/11/19 release), Lucid Air (9/25/18 release), Porsche Taycan (1/28/19 release), and VW ID.4 (9/21/20 release), among others.
