A Wendover man learned this week that beating a wife is not a good idea especially if one is an illegal immigrant.
Gerado Cervantes was arrested on one felony count of Domestic Battery by Strangulation Saturday afternoon. Transported and booked into the Elko County Jail, Cervantes made his $17,000 bail and was about to leave the facility when deputies were alerted to an Immigration hold on the man.
He was remanded back into custody awaiting possible deportation.
