Thanks again to local Wendover resident, Karen Shepherd, the Red Cross was in Wendover this last week drawing blood.“There were 36 Donors who did regular Blood Donations and 3 Donors who did the Double Red Cell Donation. This potentially saved up to 126 lives. What an amazing accomplishment!”said Melanie Featherstone. Talking to Karen, she continued:“With the blood drives you have done, we have collected 119 units of Blood so far, potentially saving up to 357 Lives! Each drive, we collect more units! In June we collected 40 and yesterday, we collected 42” .
The local businesses also help by providing some drinks and fruits to replenish the blood loss.
The American Red Cross Coordinator in SLC is Melanie Featherstone. She is the Donor Recruitment Account Manager from the Lewis & Clark Blood Services Region. She is the one who coordinates dates with Karen Shepherd and gives her the information on the totals. The next blood drive is scheduled for February 16, 2015.
