It was a wild and crazy week for the officers of the West Wendover Police Department and the hits just keep on coming.
Perhaps due to the warmer than average temperatures Wendover police were kept busy running from call to call since the beginning of last week.
Some of the notable arrest were:
On February sixth officers responded to the Rainbow casino to investigate a forgery incident. A female identified as Jennifer Escudero had been detained by security personnel after attempting to cash a check at the cashier’s cage. Security officer’s recognized Jennifer from an informational flyer provided to the casino as a result of a previous forgery investigation. They were able to detain her when she returned to attempt to cash another check on this date. After interviews with witnesses were complete Jennifer was taken into custody without incident for attempting to utter a forged instrument.
On February 7th officers responded to the Wendover Nugget casino to investigate possible drug activity. Yu Donohoo and Lesli Biggs were suspected of unlawful use and unlawful providing of schedule II prescription drugs while gambling within the casino. Witnesses alleged that Yu Donohoo had provided Lesli Biggs with a prescription drug. Lesli Biggs was taken into custody for the unlawful consumption of a schedule II prescription drug without a prescription.
Also on February7th officers were advised of a reckless driver and provided a vehicle description. Almost immediately a vehicle matching the description travelling in excess of the posted speed limit was observed by an officer on Wendover Boulevard. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Kamel Al-Bander. During the course of the traffic stop it was learned that Kamel did not have a valid driver’s license or current registration for the vehicle. Officer’s also located a bottle that contained prescription medications in the vehicle which did not belong to Kamel. Kamel was then taken into custody for unlawful possession of a schedule II narcotic without a prescription. (Kamel was not suspected of operating the vehicle while under the influence at the time of the traffic stop).
Crazy wasn’t over for that day when Baqer H Rajab Ali and Shafiq G Sarwar friends from Salt Lake got into a fist fight in the Nugget Casino. Security quickly broke up the fight and by the time police arrived both decided not to press charges. However police found that both were also wanted on warrants and both ended up in the Elko County Jail.
On February 8th officers responded to the Montego Bay Hotel/Casino to investigate a domestic violence incident. Officers were informed that housekeeping personnel had witnessed a confrontation between a male and female in the hotel hallway. The two persons then entered a hotel room and continued to argue. Housekeeping personnel notified security, who in turn notified police. Officers interviewed the two persons involved, one of which was identified as Robert Huff, as well as at least one witness. After interviews were complete and a review of surveillance footage was conducted, Robert Huff was taken into custody for domestic battery with a strangulation enhancement and injury to personal property. The victim of this incident refused medical treatment at the scene for minor injuries. A child that was in the room was not directly involved and was uninjured.
On February 9th a Justin Carter snapped at the Wendover Burger King and ripped off the tv set from the wall.
crazy continued into the 10 with the arrest Braulio Colllazo Munos for screaming threats and obscenities in residential area.
