Wendover casinos reported on of their healthiest months since the Great Recession with a double digit increase in gaming win in January.
According to last weeks monthly report Wendover Clubs reported an 11.43 rise in gaming win from January 2014 for a total win of $14.63 million.
“Win” is a gross figure, with no operating costs or other expenses deducted. And it’s casino revenue only _ separate from hotel, restaurant or bar revenues generated by the resorts.
While win indicates a casino market’s profitability another statistic “play” is an indicator of how casino workers are fairing. With some casino workers dependent on tips for up to half of their total income, play, the amount of money wagered by gamblers is a good indicator of how much casino workers received in tips and how many gamblers are actually in the casino.
Whenever slot win was up 10.5 percent to $11.1 million. Slot play was up 10.1 percent to $204.5 million. Slot hold incred very slightly from 5.43 percent in January 2014 to 5.45 percent this January.
On the tables win was up 14.6 percent to $3.5 million. Play was up 11.43 percent to $16.5 million while hold increased from 20.38 percent to 21.16 percent.
Total gaming win for the balance of the county dropped by 0.38 percent to $6.6 million.
Slot win was down 2.4 percent to $5.7 million. Slot play was up 3.7 percent to $94.9 million. Slot hold declined from 6.33 percent in January 2014 to 5.96 percent this January.
Table win wasup 13.7 percent to $935,000. Play was up 24.9 percent to $4.2 million while hold dropped from 24.49 percent to 22.29 percent.
For the entire state a strong increase Baccarat win fueled a 7.75 percent overall increase in statewide gaming, $952.7 million, win for January.
Baccarat was up 69.2 percent or $56.3 million to a total of $137.8 million for the month.
Because of the impact of Baccarat, the Las Vegas Strip was up 15.4 percent for the month, a total of $576.8 million.
Washoe County reported a 12.4 percent increase for the month to $59.9 million. It was the fourth straight increase in win from Washoe.
North Lake Tahoe, which reported a 25.8 percent increase to $1.99 million. Gaming Control Board analyst Mike Lawton said both table games and slot win were up dramatically. Statewide win for the fiscal year through January is down 2.1 percent from the same period the previous year.
